The LIFE+ Up & Forward recycling project has worked to encourage residents to waste less and recycle more in hard to reach communities across Greater Manchester.

GMWDA was funded by the EU LIFE+ programme to carry out the 2-year recycling project between 2013-2015 to demonstrate how improved communication can increase waste prevention and recycling in low performing urban areas.

The Up and Forward recycling project developed 12 campaigns based on four demographic themes linked to low performance.

  • Households
  • Students and Short Lets
  • Faith and Culture
  • Apartments
