Business and trade waste

You cannot take business or trade waste to any of the Recycling Centres. These are strictly for household waste and recycling only. You can dispose of your business or trade waste at a SUEZ waste transfer facility. PPE must be worn when visiting.

Every business that produces waste in the UK has a legal ‘duty of care’ to manage it properly until it’s recycled or disposed of. You must register to carry your own waste and keep the correct paperwork for at least two years.

SUEZ operate 6 waste transfer stations, see below for details on locations, opening times, and the types of business waste accepted at each.

What counts as business waste?

  • any waste produced by tradespeople or builders hired to carry out improvements, repairs or alterations to a person’s property
  • any waste that comes from commercial activity
  • any waste from premises which are used for business such as homes, offices, shops, warehouses
  • any waste that comes from construction, demolition, industry or agriculture

Important information before you visit:

You must be registered for a waste carrier’s licence if you do any of these as part of your business:
• transport waste
• buy, sell or dispose of waste
• arrange for someone else to buy, sell or dispose of waste

Regular visits

You will need to set up an account, please send an email to contractmanagergm.uk@suez.com. Please allow up to 3 days for your account to be set up.

You will be asked to fill in a credit application form and a Direct Debit form. You will need to provide the following information:

  • bank details
  • SIC code (Standard Industrial Classification)
  • VAT registration number
  • trading name and address of your business
  • company registration number and incorporation date (for Limited Companies)
  • details of three trade references – these must be suppliers to your business

One-off visits

If you are just making a one-off visit to dispose of your business waste, you don’t have to set up an account. When you visit, you will need a credit or debit card to make payment. You will still need to wear the required PPE listed below.

What do I do with hazardous waste?

If you are disposing of hazardous waste you will need a consignment note, please visit complete a consignment note (opens in new tab) for more details. The consignment note must stay with hazardous waste until it reaches its final destination.

You must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

For health and safety reasons, PPE must be worn when visiting the waste transfer facilities.

If you do not wear the correct PPE, you will not be able to dispose of your waste and recycling.

You must wear:
