Materials Recovery Facility Visitor Centre

See how recycling is sorted from over a million homes.

A visit to our centre in South Manchester includes:

  • A tour of the facility that uses lasers, cyclones and magnets to separate the recycling from over a million homes in Greater Manchester
  • Taking part in tailored, engaging activities in our bespoke centre

Renew Hub Visitor Centre

The Renew Hub in Trafford Park, is where all the items that have been donated from the Recycling Centres are taken to be checked, repaired or upcycled. They are then allocated to our renew shops or sold through our Renew eBay store. During the tour, you will see, behind the scenes, the events space, the shop and eBay store allocation process. You will also see and hear about the work of the partners who upcycle and repair the items in the hub.

Solar Farm

Visit our Solar Farm in Salford and see how sunlight is converted into electricity to help power our facilities and help towards our carbon reduction targets.

Visitor Days

 

By booking onto one of our visitor days as a small group or individual, you can find out what happens to your household waste, see your recycling in action, learn about renewable energy or develop your understanding of how reuse and repair can help to reduce your environmental impact.

We host regular visitor days at all our visitor centres. You must register before attending an open day.

Online Sessions

Our online sessions are delivered by Education Officers. They are tailored for a range of audiences covering all things waste and recycling and can include:
