This includes waste from normal day-to-day household activities and DIY projects. You are not allowed to dispose of any business waste. This includes:

Vehicles are monitored to make sure the Recycling Centres are only being used for household waste. Action will be taken against anyone found to be using the Recycling Centres for business waste.

Before you visit a Recycling Centre

Sort your waste and recycling

There are over 22 containers at your local Recycling Centre for different types of waste. To help us recycle as much as possible, please separate your waste and recycling into different types:

Visit our A-Z recycling guide for more information.

Check the height of your vehicle

All of the Recycling Centres have a height barrier at the entrance.

If you are using a vehicle is over 2 metres high such as a hire vehicle, trailer or SUV you will need to use our recycling sites where there is an entrance for council and high-sided vehicles. Use the postcode search on the Where’s my nearest recycling centre? page and select over 2 metres high to find your nearest site.

If you are visiting the Recycling Centre by foot

If you are visiting the Recycling Centre by foot you will not be able to walk into the Recycling Centre. You can still take your waste and recycling to our Recycling Centres but please hand it to a member of staff at the entrance who will put it in the right container for you.

Check opening times

Use the postcode search on Where’s my nearest recycling centre? . Select whether your vehicle is under over or under 2 metres high.

Loading your vehicle

When you load your vehicle, use bags and boxes to separate different types of items so you can easily put them in the right container when you arrive at the Recycling Centre.
