FAQs

What is Repair Week?

A week-long celebration of repair where R4GM promote repair groups and businesses to encourage people to try fixing instead of throwing away.

Repair Week was started by ReLondon in 2020 and R4GM became a partner in 2023.
Repair Week is about connecting residents to local repairers, to help us keep items in use as long as possible and stop them going to waste.

Repairers host events offering repairs or teaching people how to repair. We promote the events through our channels and networks to encourage residents to attend. on our website, with our partners, and through paid advertising.

How can I be involved?

It’s really simple. All you need to do is host an event during Repair Week. Your event should be focused on repairing items or sharing repair skills with residents in Greater Manchester. Most events are in-person but you could always run an online session.

We’ll list you on our event directory and your event will be promoted under the nationwide banner of Repair Week.

I can’t host an event what else could I do?

Not able to host an event this year? There are lots of ways to get involved, including:
Offer discounts for repair services during the Repair Week.
Share your repair services using #RepairWeekGM
List your organisation on our [Repair Directory]. The directory helps residents find local repairers like you all year round.

Do you have a space but no fixers? Or are you a mending marvel without a space? Drop us a message and we might be able to help put you in touch with someone who can help recycle4gm@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk

Who can be involved?

Any Greater Manchester* community group, business or individual who wants to share their repair expertise with residents is welcome.
Not sure if you’re the right fit? Drop us a message and we can help recycle4gm@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk

What is a repair ‘event’?

It doesn’t have to be fancy – just you, your know-how, and a little time.
You might run a regular repair café, or fancy hosting a webinar to teach people mending.
We just ask that the event is open to the public, but it can be ticketed.

*R4GM is not involved in the planning or running of events and all legal responsibility falls to the event organiser.

How much does it cost to take part?

It’s free! We’ll promote your event on our website, with our partners, and through paid advertising at no cost to you.
It’s up to you whether you charge, request a donation, or fix for free at your event.

Why get involved?

Introduce your organisation to new customers. Our 2025 campaign reached 2,645,937 people and featured on BBC Morning Live, BBC Radio Manchester, The MANC, Manchester Evening News and more.

Last year we chucked an estimated £417 million worth of repairable items in Greater Manchester. Help people to repair instead of replace so we can love things for longer, save cash, and stop things ending up as rubbish.

  • Free advertising of your event on the R4GM website.
  • Your organisation listed on the R4GM Repair Directory.
  • We promote the campaign and event listings through adverts, our partners, and 9 councils in Greater Manchester.
  • Valuable survey data to understand how locals view repair. We’re asking 500 residents their views.

Sign up by 2nd Feb to get free partner pack including digital and physical resources to help your event.
