Plan ahead

Our sites are open 8am-8pm in summer and 8am-6pm in winter, 7 days a week (except Christmas Day and New Years Day), giving you plenty of time to visit. We are busiest at weekends and bank holidays (especially Boxing Day!) so visit outside of these times if you can.

Wear suitable clothing

We don’t want you to hurt yourself. Our sites are busy with people carrying large, heavy, or sharp items. Gloves and enclosed footwear can help to prevent cuts and injuries – no flip flops!

Secure your belongings

Leave your mobile phone, keys and other personal belongings in your car or pockets, otherwise you might end up accidentally recycling them!

Separate your recycling

We recycle over 40 different materials at our sites, each in separate containers. You’ll save yourself time by separating your items before you arrive so you can quickly drop them off in the right places.

Keep children and pets in the car

If you need to bring your kids or pets with you, keep them safe inside your vehicle.

Get your van permit in advance

If you’re using your own van or hiring one, you’ll need to register for your free van permit, which gives you 18 visits a year.

WHY HAVE I BEEN STOPPED?

We’re here to help…

We want your visit to be as smooth as possible. If you bring a bag of unsorted waste, we need to check if it can be recycled and direct you to the correct bay.

Save time and reduce queues:

Our sites get busy, especially at the weekends. We are working hard to keep things moving, that is why we direct you were to park. Please use the designated parking bays and do not park on the roadway. This causes queues, delays and accidents.

Help us to help you:

Our recycling rates are improving in Greater Manchester, but we can all do better. We have asked what you have brought today to make sure you recycle as much as possible by helping you put everything in the right place.

Why are our sites sometimes partially closed?

We do this to manage our containers as they become full, and to ensure that there is always a container available for you to recycle your items.
