Frequently asked questions

When will Reliance Street Recycling Centre close?

We are currently in the final planning stage, but expect the site to close in June 2025, we will update this website when we have an exact date.

When will Reliance Street recycling centre re-open?

We expect the site to reopen in July 2026, we will update this website when we have an exact date.

Why are these improvements needed?
We are making these changes to improve the amenities and access for users. Currently Reliance St must close for short periods of time throughout the day when containers that are full are being moved and changed. The improved layout will eliminate the need to close the site.
It also will give

  • More parking to allow a better flow of traffic.
  • A donation container will be added for items too good to throw away, which will support local good causes via the Renew shops.
