Food waste v wasted food
List of food waste

There is a big difference between wasting food and food waste. We see food waste as a valuable resource.
In waste when we refer to food waste we are talking about food and inedible parts of food that has been uneaten or spoiled things like:
Veggies and fruit peelings, leftovers from your plates, tea bags and coffee grounds, fish and chicken bones, gone off pastries, dairy such as mouldy cheese, butter and egg shells.
Many Greater Manchester residents are already be recycling things like paper, card, plastic pots and trays, glass jars and bottles and cans, making Greater Manchester one of the top recycling rates for an urban area in England.
But many people are still not recycling food waste, we are on a mission to help Greater Manchester see the value of recycling food waste. The first step is to get set up, you will need a kitchen caddy, and an outdoor caddy or food and garden bin.
To get you started in your food waste recycling journey you will need to visit your council website to order a caddy and a bin if needed.
There are some variations between districts, you may need to pay for your bin or just pay for delivery, it’s worth noting that not all districts give free compostable liners, but these are not mandatory when it comes to recycling.
