From Monday  9th May 2022 residents using a vehicle over 2 metres high will be able to access the household waste recycling centres across Greater Manchester to dispose of household waste. (Except Springvale, Rochdale, and Every St, Bury)

All vans (including hire vans) and pick-up trucks will require a permit. Apply here.

Disposal of asbestos will still be at the weighbridge and PPE will be required.

Strictly no trade waste.

A visit includes:

  • An hour tour of the Solar Farm
  • See how sunlight is being used to generate electricity
  • Find out how the site fits in with the waste contract in Greater Manchester
  • Find out what happens in the adjacent waste facilities and Recycling Centre

Visits are suitable for:

  • Groups within the Greater Manchester waste contract area (which excludes Wigan)
  • Further Education groups studying environmental and STEM subjects (Years 12 and 13)
  • Higher Education students
  • Adult community groups

Consideration will also be made for groups to visit from subject specific Key Stage 4 (High School) groups as appropriate
