Textiles

Unfortunately due to the volume of cheap fast fashion clothes being thrown away, you can no longer recycle torn or damaged clothing in the textile bins.  The textile recycling market is very challenging with many textile recyclers forced to close down. Torn or damaged clothing can be very costly to recycle, and end markets are limited, so please place any torn or damaged clothing in your general waste bin. Textiles like bedding and towels cannot go in the textiles bins at the recycling centres, however some retailers offer take back schemes for bedding and blankets or you can donate them to animal rescue centres.

You can donate clothes in good condition to a charity shop or sell them online.

You can also take bagged clothes to your local recycling centre and put them in the textile bin. Please bag them first.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update our website regularly.
