REPAIR for Greater Manchester

This is Recycle for Greater Manchester, why are we talking about repair?

We all know recycling is important but we can do more to protect our planet.

Everything we buy and use has an impact on the planet. Materials are mined, energy is used to produce the products, and fuel is used to get them to us.

We’re using 1.7 times more natural resources than the planet can produce. Using less stuff by repairing and reusing what we already have reduces the environmental impact we make.

Recycling is good, but we can do better. Waste hierarchy inverse triangle image. [In order of importance] Have a buy less mindset. Swap the way you shop, rented or preloved. Use it again and again and again. Rehome it. Put it in the recycling bin. Bin it.

Repair Week is coming…

Our city-region is buzzing with repair heroes helping save stuff from the bin.

Repair Week will connect people with local repairers and inspire them to fix instead of throwing away. A week-long celebration of repair with online and in-person events.

REPAIR NEAR YOU

Why choose to Repair?

Last year  we chucked an estimated £417 million worth of repairable items in Greater Manchester.

Fixing instead of throwing away means we can love things for longer, save cash, and stop things ending up as rubbish.
