We’ve opened three Renew shops in Greater Manchester. These shops sell pre-loved household items at an affordable price and are located at three of our recycling centres.
The shops stock a wide variety of homeware, garden furniture, toys, sports equipment, books and more. Items have been donated by residents and cleaned and repaired before being handpicked by staff for the shops in Eccles, Oldham and Altrincham.
The aim of the Renew shops is to reduce waste, reuse unwanted items and increase recycling rates. Many of the items donated by residents would have otherwise gone to waste.
The Renew shop at Arkwright Street, Oldham will be closed on Monday 17th October and Tuesday 18th October for essential building maintenance.

You can now browse our eBay store, pay for your items and collect from the Renew Hub at Trafford Park at a time that suits you.
Browse our range of vintage and upcycled furniture, preloved homeware and refurbished bikes.
All money raised by the shops will go to support local communities through two Greater Manchester initiatives. Each year money raised through sales made in the Renew shops will be donated as follows:
£100,000 to the Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity (link opens in new tab)
£220,000 to the Recycle for Greater Manchester Community Fund (link opens in new tab)
To ensure the Renew shops are regularly stocked, we are encouraging residents to donate their unwanted items. There are donate containers at all recycling centres across Greater Manchester, except for Chester Road and Reliance Street. Items can be cleaned and repaired.
We are now selling bagged compost at our Renew Shops, which is made from food and garden waste from across the North West. It is Richmoor compost which is naturally peat free.

How to order more compostable food bags
When you are running low on liners, please tie an empty liner around the handle of your food waste container or green bin on collection day and the crew will leave you a new roll of liners.

When you get to the end of a roll, you’ll find a tag to request a new roll. Attach this tag to your bin handle and the collection crew will leave a new roll.

A roll of 150 liners is delivered to each Stockport household every year.
If you run out, you can buy them directly from the supplier online or over the telephone on 0844 571 4444.
Most supermarkets now stock compostable liners, just look out for the EN13432 composting association logo to make sure the liners are suitable to be used in your food waste caddy.

Trafford council now provides everyone with a year’s supply of compostable food bags.
If you run out of compostable food bags, you can contact Trafford council on 03330 035865 to order more. Trafford council will deliver these to you free of charge.
You can also pick up a roll from any Trafford library.
