We are making it easier for residents with vehicles over 2 metres to recycle their waste by allowing access to the recycling centres.
From Monday 9th May:
Please note that vans, pick-ups and twin axle trailers still require a permit. For more information, visit: recycleforgreatermanchester.com/vanpermit
The van permit scheme has reduced the number of traders attempting to illegally use the recycling centres, which means we have removed the height restrictions barrier at 18 out of 20 recycling centres on a trial basis.
This applies to household waste only – businesses and traders are still required to use the weighbridge to pay to dispose of their waste.
ASBESTOS
If you are disposing of asbestos, then you must still continue to use the weighbridge. You must wear PPE when using these sites.

How to order more compostable food bags
When you are running low on liners, please tie an empty liner around the handle of your food waste container or green bin on collection day and the crew will leave you a new roll of liners.

If you just need liners or only need a caddy, you can collect these yourself from:

Alternatively, attach the yellow tag found towards the end of the roll to your brown food and garden bin. Our collection crew will leave you a new roll.

A roll of 150 liners is delivered to each Stockport household every year.
If you run out, you can buy them directly from the supplier online or over the telephone on 0844 571 4444.

If you run out of compostable food bags, you can contact Trafford council on 03330 035865 to order more. Trafford council will deliver these to you free of charge.
